A recent article published in the Advertiser has reported that migrants to South Australia are ‘driving the state’s population growth.’

The article titled “State must stop brain drain” reported on the positive impact migration has had on South Australia and the new opportunities that have developed for international students and migrants wanting to work here.

South Australia has historically had a very slow population growth , particularly in comparison to the cities on the east coast.

The fantastic and affordable living standards offered by South Australia now make it an ideal destination for migrants wanting to obtain visas to live and work here.

The State Government is also working to develop more opportunities for migration in South Australia with the Designated Area Migration Agreements (DAMA). The government is currently finalising two DAMAS with the Department of Home Affairs. The DAMAS cover high tech industries such as defence, space and advanced manufacturing and businesses in regional areas in South Australia including agribusiness, forestry, health, social services, construction and mining. The DAMAS will allow SA businesses and employers to sponsor skilled overseas workers for occupations which they are unable to fill with local workers. The DAMA allows SA businesses and their prospective overseas skilled employees access to additional concessions and occupations than is otherwise available under the skilled migration.

If you are a migrant looking to work or study in South Australia or the Northern Territory or you are an employer looking to take on skilled migrants, contact Ahmad at WBH Legal to discuss the opportunities available to you on 08 8410 4420.
